Built in the 1940s and 1950s by American Car and Foundry, this Allied Chemical Solvay Process 11,000 gallon specialized tank car was designed primarily for transporting liquid in and out of Allied Chemical's Solvay NY plant and became a familiar sight around Central New York and on many of the railroads across the country.
