Large scale can refer to any ratio of model railroad that is larger than O scale.  One of the most beloved of these is called "STANDARD GAUGE", which is slightly wider than G Gauge.  Standard Gauge was a term coined by Lionel to compete with other "wide gauge" manufacturers of the pre-WWI tinplate era.  Standard Gauge Trains are available today by MTH Electric Trains in their TINPLATE TRADITIONS line.  Popular G Scale trains are commonly built for outdoor use and referred to as garden, scale ratios include 1:32; 1:29; 1:24; 1:22.5; 1:19; and 1:12.  The popular German LGB trains are 1:22.5 scale, while 1:19 is a common scale in England and other parts of Europe.

Amusement parks, zoos, and special enthusiast clubs also host ride-on trains that may be larger than these ratios. However, operators tend to measure those trains by the distance between the rails, such as 7.5 inches, 15 inches, 2 feet etc..  The most popular in our area is "inch and one half scale".

Jr Junction Train & Hobby does not actively carry all large scale trains, but offers special ordering or recommend a source for beginners.
