Starting in 1977, Pullman-Standard built about 7,000 of these box cars during the incentive per diem (IPD) era. The 5344 box car was the last successful boxcar project,
before Pullman sold all railroad assets in 1981, due to declining sales. While Pullman is long gone, these cars still roam North America in the masses. This Atlas O Premier
