When the mines closed in 1956, the railroad was purchased by a company which operated a small section of the line for tourist excursions. The EBT railroad held the distinction of the only original narrow-gauge railroad surviving east of the Rocky Mountains for much of its history. Steam locomotives still head down the tracks today for passenger train excursions.

Bachmann is happy to celebrate the history and revival of the East Broad Top with this freight train set.
